Welcome to our Personal Development programme.

Welcome to our Personal Development Programme

St Anne’s Academy Vision:

The best for everyone, the best from everyone. We have faith in our future..

Intent:

Here at St Anne’s Church of England Academy we want to give our students the best opportunity to reach their potential, both inside and outside of the classroom. Through a wide-ranging personal development programme we want all students to develop our values of aspiration, integrity, respect and hard work. The programme is designed to help students gain the skills knowledge and understanding they need to lead healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.

Our personal development programme is embedded throughout the whole of each student’s curriculum from Year 7 to 11. All of our students are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and the wider community. In doing so, students learn to recognise their own worth, develop a sense of their own identity and the ability to take their place in the community as well as respect and work with others.

Implementation:

We believe it is essential that ‘Personal Development’ underpins and is the foundation of every part of academy life. St Anne’s Church of England Academy is committed to providing a planned personal development programme for all students that incorporates the Faith Programme, the Careers Programme and the ‘Best for Everyone’ Programme. These include PSHE lessons, form time curriculum, extra-curricular clubs, student leadership opportunities, careers activities/events, development of students’ understanding of British Values, age-appropriate understanding of healthy relationships through Sex and Relationships Education, enabling students to recognise online and offline risks, students’ understanding of how to keep mentally/physically healthy, investment in students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and subject specific personal development experiences.

Please see our Faith, Careers and ‘Best For Everyone’ Programme overviews for further information.

Impact:

By providing a rich set of personal development experiences students will be able to develop their skills, abilities and self-esteem to fulfil their aspirations. Students are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and to recognise how they are developing personally and socially. This rich provision enables students to become confident, independent and resilient young adults with excellent physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

We want our students to be ready for the world they are about to enter, with the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, to flourish academically and be prepared for a successful life within society.
