FAQ’S

What events are there leading up to transition to St Anne’s Academy?

There will be a Welcome and Information Evening On Thursday 14th March 2024. We have scheduled two presentations; the first to be held at 4.00pm to 4.30pm and the second at 5.00pm to 5.30pm. Both presentations will cover the same information so you only need to attend one session.

When is transition?

Our priority is to ensure Year 6 will have an undisturbed transition process. Please be assured the Year 7 Team are in communication with all our feeder primary schools and are gathering information to ensure all children have a smooth start. You can keep up to date via our Website.

How can I prepare?

Moving to secondary school can be a daunting time for both children and their parents. One of the key ways to prepare your child for transition is to develop their independence skills. This includes encouraging them to gather and pack their own equipment ready for school or other activities, managing time and money, looking after their belongings and development of strategies to use if something goes wrong.
On the website, there are activities for your child to complete which will allow them to familiarise themselves with St Anne’s Academy values and subjects they will be undertaking in September.

Where can we purchase the uniform from?

Our uniform providers are Broadbents on Long Street in Middleton. For academic year 2024/25 we are providing a school tie, blazer and branded items of PE kit for all new Year 7 pupils, at no cost to parents.

What shoes and bag should I be looking for?

Your child should wear a sensible black leather/leather type shoe that can be polished. No trainers, boots or heels.

What equipment will we need to prepare?

To enable your child to come to school prepared you should provide them with a rucksack type bag, a full PE kit with their name on, a well-stocked pencil case including Blue/black pens, a pencil, rubber, ruler, red/green pens, a pencil sharpener and a calculator.

Who do I contact if I have any questions or if there are any problems?

You should contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance. The most effective ways of doing this are either by putting a note in your child’s planner or sending an email direct to the relevant teacher who will then respond as soon as they can. For more significant questions or concerns please contact: Mrs Howard, Pastoral Year Lead or Mrs Tansley, SENCO.
