As a school, we see extra-curricular activities and residential trips as being of immense value and we would like all students to have the opportunity to take part in them.
At the start of the school year in September, we take all of our Year 7 students on an action-packed team-building day to provide students with the opportunity of getting to know each other better, develop their skills and learn more about the vision and values of our school. This is an adventure with a difference, taking students into the wild and experiencing outdoor activities that they will never forget.
We visit the Anderton Centre in Chorley. The site is spread across four acres of woodland and has exclusive use of Lower Rivington Reservoir. The Anderton Centre is very experienced at running activities of this nature and their instructors have received extensive in-house training and nationally recognised qualifications for specialised activities.
Our own staff will also be with the children at all times. On the date of the trip, children arrive at school by 08:00 and are taken to the Anderton Centre by coach. Whilst there, students will be immersing themselves in a variety of land and water-based activities such as paddle boarding, team building activities and taking on the challenge of the leap of faith. We return to school by 16:00 that same day.
On arrival at the Anderton Centre, we walk the grounds and the students are divided into smaller teams. Each team will be accompanied by a St Anne’s member of staff who encourages students to reflect on how they work together and explains how we expect St Anne’s students to work hard, be respectful and challenge themselves in everything that they do.
The trip is free of charge to all our new Year 7 students as we believe that school trips such as these are an important part of a school’s curriculum and provide our students with wonderful opportunities to build on essential skills that help them grow into confident, independent and successful adults.
Further details about the trip will follow in the Spring term however if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] .
