St Anne’s Academy opened in September 2007 and was described as a good school with some outstanding features in May 2010; it has the capacity to become outstanding. It is an exciting period for the Academy as September will see a move into a brand new building and the arrival of a new Principal. St Anne’s is located at J19 on the M62 and easily accessible from Merseyside, West Yorkshire and the whole of the Greater Manchester area. There is a good supply of affordable housing including an abundance of flats in nearby Manchester.
There are currently 650 students in the main school and the small 6th form, the Academy serves a significantly disadvantaged area to the north of Manchester and Middleton, Rochdale. Over 50% of students are entitled to free school meals and attainment at entry is significantly lower than the national average. The Academy has achieved year on year improvements in GCSE and in 2009 46% achieved 5 or more good passes including Maths and English, overall CVA was 1057.
We are now seeking a small number of outstanding colleagues to join our dynamic staff. The development of learning and teaching is at the top of our agenda and our strength in this area was recognised by OFSTED. The Academy will continue to invest heavily in CPD and intends to maintain its National Support School status.
