A broad and personalised curriculum

Embedding lifelong learning

In year 7 and 8 students focus on developing the personal, learning and thinking skills.

Students partake in an accelerated literacy programme which aims to consolidate key skills in reading and writing.

All students have the opportunity to take their English and Maths GCSE in year 10 in order to ensure they achieve their potential. In year 11 should they wish to better their grade they are given the opportunity to do so. Every student studies Science and ICT and achieves great results.

The success in the core subjects of English and Maths lie at the heart of our curriculum, with ICT developing strong independent learning skills and Religious Education and Citizenship providing a strong moral compass.

Personalised timetables including traditional GCSEs, BTEC courses and functional skills to ensure all students can achieve their full potential. Students can then  progress into the Sixth Form and study a range of AS and A levels together with a broad range of vocational courses and exciting pathways such as a full range of Art and IT courses.

Students can also benefit from a wide range of enrichment activities including gifted and talented trips, work experience, Drama Club, homework clinics and coursework days. The Friends of the Academy (our newly started Parent and Teacher Association) are also working hard to bring the Community into the Academy.
